POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible to manage the execution of all functions within the Monument Center Fabrication Shop. Incumbent will be directly responsible for the overall performance of the operations team within Fabrication Operations to produce fabricated parts and assemblies on time and within budget using the approved engineering, proper planning, essential tooling, and FAA requirements.

The Supervisor's core objective is to (a) develop and execute goals specific for the department including performance driven KPIs, (b) manage the work flow through the Fabrication and INT CNC Shop, and (c) evaluate the results to choose the best solution for the department's overall success. The supervisor's ability to coach, counsel, and assess job results effectively with clear direction will empower the operations team to meet production schedules and goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Monitor and direct operations team to ensure production targets, key performance indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are achieved in order to meet project requirements.

  2. Monitor and direct shift handover reporting to ensure current state and next steps are clearly communicated to follow-on shift personnel.

  3. Lead and Mentor shop leads to achieve needed results for safety, quality, budget, and schedule requirements set forth by Operations management.

  4. Effectively communicate with upstream Suppliers to ensure process deliverables are provided consistent with Shop practices and support project goals.

  5. Regularly report Progress and constraints for shop Safety, Quality, and Project Budget and Schedule to operations management.

  6. Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate activities of the shop area. Ensure that all work is properly prioritized through the shops to work within resource constraints and downstream customer need.

  7. Oversee and supervise all aspects of part fabrication and assembly. This includes typical hand tools, machine tools, CNC machines. Verify all equipment and tools assigned to the shop area are serviceable and in working condition.

  8. Utilize the methods set forth by the company's Quality Control Manual(s).

  9. Ensure that all in-process inspections and processes are being properly accomplished and documented.

  10. Read work orders, blueprints, or specifications to determine repairs or fabrication procedures and sequence of operations.

  11. Confer with Monument Operations Manager, other monument center Supervisors, and project manager to ensure all quality, schedule, and budget expectations are met.

  12. Lead Continuous process Improvement efforts in Fabrication shop; process analysis (mapping, etc.), measurement (KPIs and Comm. Board), data analysis (Pareto etc.) and problem solving (PDCA, 5-whys, fishbone, etc.)

  13. Train and Mentor new personnel on proper procedures.

  14. Notify proper authority (Quality, Operations Management, Sr. Management) of any suspected unairworthy conditions found.

  15. Demonstrated knowledge in the use of all types of stationery and handheld-power tools to fabricate and/or repair sheet metal parts/components.

  16. Foster positive team environment. Exposed to the concept of "servant leadership".

  17. Other duties not specifically covered herein but otherwise assigned.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE / HEALTH AND SAFETY:

The health and safety described here is representative of the requirements by an employee to protect a worker's own health and safety by working in compliance with the law as well as conducting themselves in a manner that promotes safe work practices and procedures as established by the company.

This position operates in compliance with all Administrative, Emergency Response, Health & Safety, Quality Assurance policies, AS9100, and procedures as outlined in Company policy and Repair Station Manual(s).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  1. Completed training in a vocation or technical school focused on sheet metal fabrication, repair or installation experience or combination of education and experience.

  2. A minimum of 3 to 5 years in a leadership role. Expressly displaying ability to successfully lead a team in a production environment.

  3. A minimum of 8 years of sheet metal experience within the aerospace/aviation industry directly related to the manufacture of custom corporate jet interior components.

  4. Completed the Repairman Certificate training in accordance with FCC Repair Station Manual.

  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of an MRP (Material Resources Planning) system required; Corridor software a plus.

  6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Extensive knowledge in the specialized functions of the job. Ability to solve complex problems ordinarily encountered in the process.

  2. Mastery knowledge of sheetmetal or fabrication processes (forming, drilling, stamping, shaping, bending, punching, cutting, riveting, filing and dimpling).

  3. Mastery knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheetmetal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.

  4. Basic math functions with whole numbers, decimals and fractions and the ability to know how and when to use them.

  5. Must be available to work off scheduled hours as needed.

  6. Key competencies related to working with a diverse group of individuals and departments are desirable.

  7. Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.

  8. Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.

  9. Willing to complete on the job training (OJT) in accordance with FCC Repair Station Manual and ISO Quality manual.

  10. Willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.

The location where this position functions is in a production environment which is subject to constant exposure to loud noise, potential contact with hazardous/non-hazardous waste material and other safety hazards such as production tools, aircraft monuments, interior components: divans, chairs, other cabinets etc.
