Our growing company is looking for a(n) Sheetmetal Maintenance/Completion Supervisor to supervise the daily requirements of sheetmetal repair and installation.

In this role you will; (a) be responsible for the daily production schedules (project progress against time and costing allowances and budgets), for developing and executing goals specific for the department including performance driven KPIs, (b) lead the crew to fulfill the technical and operational on the job tasks, quality (squawks, RFE's, turnaround, equipment), Health and Safety and (c) evaluate the results to choose the best solution for the department's overall success.  Your ability to coach, counsel, and assess job results effectively with clear direction through various forms of communication will empower you and your team to meet production schedules and goals.

As a(n) Sheetmetal Maintenance/Completion Supervisor, you will also be responsible for:

  • Schedule department workload and ensure timely completion. Set workload priorities.

  • Oversee and supervise all aspects of metal installation/repair.  This includes typical hand tools and machine tools.

  • Oversee installation/repair of fab parts assuring proper tolerances, time frames and cost efficiencies.

  • Lead projects, train, mentor and supervise personnel.

  • Read and interpret various technical data, Blue Prints, FAR's, SB's, AD's and maintenance authorizations to determine feasibility and method of maintenance action in a timely manner.

  • Reading work orders, blueprints, and specifications or examine sample or damaged parts or structures to determine repairs or fabrication procedures and sequence of operations.

  • Confer with customer and project coordinator to ensure all expectations are met.

  • Train new personnel on proper procedures.  Mentor personnel on proper procedures.

  • Manage projects and a team of technicians to complete desired tasks.  Reduction of cycle times to improve work flow.

  • Ability to comprehend opportunities for continuous improvement and institute efficiencies throughout all manufacturing departments.  Participating in continuous improvement activities (e.g. Kaizen events).

  • Assist management with purchase and availability of maintenance and job bids.

  • Complying with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies. Use of personal protective equipment as required. Ensuring aircraft interior is protected (PTP).

  • Using the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off work.

  • Ensure proper use of the company's MRP/ERP System.

  • Consult with OEM Engineering.

To perform successfully as a(n) Sheetmetal Maintenance/Completion Supervisor, we are looking for the following:

  • Aerospace or Aviation metal installation/maintenance and/or shop environment with an understanding in lean manufacturing and/or combination of education and equivalent experience.

  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years of working with sheetmetal installation and repair.

  • Experience with shop layout optimization to generate manufacturing efficiencies.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineer drawings required.

  • Excellent personal skills, with experience showing collaboration with a diverse group of individuals and departments.

  • Prior experience managing complex sheetmetal work scopes and/or projects with documented success.

  • Ability to complete math and basic financial computations with accuracy.

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite expressly with Excel.  Working knowledge of an MRP (Material Requirements Planning) system required; Corridor software a plus.

  • Bilingual (French/English and other languages an asset).

The work environment for a(n) Sheetmetal Maintenance/Completion Supervisor, may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Regular periods during which physical effort is required, e.g., walking standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.

  • Exposure to factors such as temperature variations/extremes, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, and materials which can cause periods of discomfort.

  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.

  • Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands
