Senior Cabinetmaker

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible to fabricate cabinets and install components in accordance with completion specifications.  Incumbent will demonstrate a high level of proficiency in and a meticulous work ethic to guide the fabrication of aircraft monuments and components, up to and including repairing, modifying, and refurbishing cabinets.

The Senior Cabinet Maker's core objective is to build aircraft monuments, galleys, wardrobes, tables and other interior furnishings ensuring continued quality and timely deliveries using the approved design, engineering and FAA requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Establish the highest quality of the work performed on aircraft cabinets, systems and components undergoing work and specialized services meets Company standards and goals that in turn meets or improves budgeted hours/schedules.

  2. A wide and comprehensive familiarity with, and understanding of, both general and specific aspects of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered.

  3. Use of strong mathematical knowledge to accurately measure complete project ensuring quality and precision.

  4. Collaborate with department Crew Lead(s) to troubleshoot engineering design discrepancies within the prints. Following and working from approved engineering drawings as well as other written instructions and design specifications.

  5. Ability to make fixtures and templates that complete the monument.

  6. Foster a positive team environment and demonstrate a continual willingness to learn while serving as a team member.

  7. Participate in in-process data collection and team problem solving. Exposure to basic Continuous Improvement tools/principles 5S, Data-Driven Decision Making, Know Your Customer and Communication Boards.

  8. Utilize the methods set forth by the company's Repair Station and Quality Control Manual(s).

  9. Other duties not specifically covered herein but otherwise assigned.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE / HEALTH AND SAFETY:

This position operates in compliance with all Administrative, Emergency Response, Health & Safety, Quality Assurance policies, AS9100, and procedures as outlined in Company policy and Repair Station Manual(s).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  1. Completed training in a vocation or technical school focused on practical wood-working, surface preparation, and/or custom cabinetry experience or combination of education and experience.

  2. A minimum of 5 years of custom cabinetry experience within the aerospace/aviation industry directly related to the manufacture of custom corporate jet interior monuments.

  3. Must have successfully and proficiently completed a variety of work-related tasks achieving high quality standards.

  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.  Working knowledge of an MRP (Material Resources Planning) system required; Corridor software a plus.

  1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Practical wood-working, custom cabinetry woodworking, woodwork manufacturing or millwork.

  2. Basic math functions with whole numbers, decimals and fractions and the ability to know how and when to use them.

  3. Key competencies related to working with a diverse group of individuals and departments are desirable.

  4. Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.

  5. Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.

  6. Willing to complete on the job training (OJT) in accordance with FCC Repair Station Manual.

  7. Willing to travel domestically and internationally when required.

The work environment described here is representative of those required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.

The location where this position functions is in a production environment which is subject to constant exposure to loud noise, potential contact with hazardous/non-hazardous waste material and other safety hazards such as production tools, aircraft monuments, interior components: divans, chairs, other cabinets etc.
