POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible to inspect purchased parts, assemblies, accessories, and materials for conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments and devices: Examine items for defects in materials, workmanship, and damage occurring in transit.  Incumbent will receive material and parts entering quantities and work order data into the MRO/MRP system with accuracy and efficiency.

The Receiving Inspector's core objective is to compare quantity and part number of items received with procurement data and other specifications to ensure completeness and accuracy of order.  As well as inspect parts fabricated by FCC Sheetmetal shop, outside vendors, and Bombardier. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Inspects and measures items for dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment, and functional operation, according to blueprints, parts manuals, company or military standards, and other specifications, using precision measuring instruments and devices.

  2. Operates dimensional measuring equipment to determine compliance to specification.

  3. Segregates and quarantines defective items while following procedures for handling materials.

  4. Reporting defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.

  5. Approves or rejects items, and records inspection and disposition information in Computerized Material Control (Corridor) data tracking system.

  6. Use automated systems to perform complex testing procedures.

  7. Maintain records of testing, information and various metrics such as number of defective products per day etc.

  8. Inspect procedures of the entire production cycle to ensure they are efficient and comply with safety standards.

  9. Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.

  10. Participating in cycle counting of inventory on a periodic basis to reconcile inventory with physical count.

  11. Organize parts room and counter area as needed to store and issue materials and equipment per the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Company processes and

  12. Other duties not specifically covered herein but otherwise assigned.

This position operates in compliance with all Administrative, Emergency Response, Health & Safety, Quality Assurance policies, AS9100, and procedures as outlined in Company policy and Repair Station Manual(s).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  1. High School Diploma, some college or technical schooling and/or combination of education and equivalent experience.

  2. A minimum of 1 years of experience in supply chain, warehouse, or material environment.

  3. Advanced level blueprint, engineering and customer drawings reading and interpretation.

  4. Advanced level knowledge of manufacturing procedures and practices.

  5. Advanced level knowledge and ability to use job-related quality measurement tools.

  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.  Working knowledge of an MRP (Material Resources Planning) system strongly preferred; Corridor software a plus.

  1. Remain current on HAZMAT shipping procedures and processes.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Detail oriented with the ability to multi task to deliver against project deadlines.

  2. Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

  3. Basic math functions with whole numbers, decimals and fractions and the ability to know how and when to use them.

  4. Key competencies related to working with a diverse group of individuals and departments are desirable.

  5. Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.

  6. Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.

  7. Willing to travel domestically and internationally when required.

The work environment described here is representative of those required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.

The location where this position functions is in a warehouse environment which is subject to constant exposure to loud noise, potential contact with hazardous/non-hazardous waste material and other safety hazards such as production tools, aircraft monuments, interior components: divans, chairs, other cabinets, small and medium sized parts, etc.
