GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

This position will be responsible for purchasing parts and material to support production schedules.  Provide parts status to management, co-workers, and subordinates through various forms of communication and reporting.  Regularly analyze parts and material information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.  Develop and execute specific goals and plans to lead a team of buyers to purchase parts from vendors that have the best lead time and cost that supports the project schedule and budget.  Develop ongoing vendor relationships to better support the business. Work with accounting, sales, engineering, quality, and production management to communicate parts/material status, solve problems, and prevent future risk for projects.

 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following job tasks:

  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them in order to determine product availability and terms of sales. Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability.  Represent the company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.  Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Control purchasing department budgets.
  • Interview, hire staff, and oversee staff training.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
  • Arrange for disposal of surplus materials.
  • Administer on-line purchasing systems (Corridor)

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular periods during which physical effort is required, e.g., walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
  • Exposure to factors such as temperature variations/extremes, moderately loud noise, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention, either hearing, seeing, visualizing, drafting, to what is happening and work being performed.
  • Work environment can be repetitious / unchanging at times. 

 

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years computer experience; Corridor Software knowledge preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in business administration or equivalent experience


SKILLS/COMPENTENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to multitask
  • High level PC skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff on all levels of the organization, clients and the general public.
  • Excellent personal skills, with experience showing collaboration with a diverse group of individuals and departments.
  • Prior experience with managing teams and projects
  • Ability to complete math and basic financial computations accurately.
  • Fluent level of English.
