Production Manager Paint Department

Flying Colours Corp. is seeking an experienced Production Manager for their Paint facility. This position is located in Peterborough, ON, CA.

Job Description

The Production Manager is responsible for executing a World Class Manufacturing Process at Flying Colours Corp.  In conjunction with the Department Supervisors, the Production Manager has responsibility for all operational activities related to the Paint process at the Peterborough facility.  This includes product manufacturing, quality, H&S and team performance / productivity.  The Production Manager will also work with the senior business team to ensure the maximization of all performance objectives set for the department.

The focus of this role is the optimization of the following key Operational Objectives:

• On-Time Deliveries: Timely Production Output in accordance with Order Book and business plans, and ultimate delivery to meet scheduling
• Quality of Product (and components received)
• Manufacturing Productivity / Efficiency (Productivity per Employee)
• Cost Reduction
• Inventory Control
• Leadership / Team Motivation
• Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance

Sets weekly and monthly targets as appropriate to report and demonstrate progress in these areas to the Management team.

In your role, you will:

• Exert your leadership while respecting the vision and values of Flying Colours Corp.
• Establish and control the achievement of production objectives;
• Ensure continuous improvement, notably with the application of the problem resolution process;
• Coach your team in order to develop their talent in the organization;
• Identify, document and standardize key processes leading to the achievement of objectives;
• Optimize the sharing of knowledge and best practices throughout the organization
• Contribute to the evolving and growing environment at Flying Colours.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starter with strong leadership skills. He/she has exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively lead the production team and be a key liaison for Customers and Senior Executives.  Must possess excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively under pressure and manage situations as they evolve.  Demonstrated problem solving ability and adaptability to be successful in a changing environment.  Demonstrated ability to be flexible to meet company and customer needs.  Demonstrated delivery of results to meet company budgets and targets.  In addition candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Operations, Engineering or Business Degree (University undergraduate minimum);
• Significant practical operations and business management experience;
• Strong background in manufacturing, engineering, materials processes, lean technologies (5S / 6S) quality processes, inventory control, and manufacturing finance;
• Experience with paint processes and/or a background in aviation painting an asset;
• Strong employee relations skills;
• Strong analytical and process skills;
• Experience with lean manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of EHS programs;
• Must be proficient in MS Office (including, Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
