Due to continued growth in our businesses, we have a requirement for a Manufacturing Technician to join our Team at our Peterborough, Ontario location.

 

 

Specific Accountabilities

  • Safely performing fabrication processes, such as sheet-metal layout, fabrication of parts, equipment or fabricated items on aircraft under general supervision.
  • Utilizing proper tooling, fabricate and assemble specific parts and configurations according to blueprint specifications or written/verbal information.  
  • Candidates must be able to understand and work from mechanical drawings as well as other written instructions and design specifications.
  • Strong mathematical knowledge is required, as is the ability to make accurate measurements and finish materials to a high level of quality and precision.
  • Safely operating shop equipment such as: brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, and hand tools associated with sheet-metal functions. Use the proper hardware for various Sheetmetal applications.
  • Complying with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies. Use of personal protective equipment as required. Ensuring aircraft interior is protected (PTP).
  • Participating in continuous improvement activities (e.g. Kaizen events).
  • Reading work orders, blueprints, and specifications or examine sample or damaged parts or structures to determine repairs or fabrication procedures and sequence of operations.
  • Coordinating with supervision and Inspection to ensure compliance with internal and FAA paperwork, sign-offs and quality specifications.
  • Using the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off work.

 

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Completion of College/CEGEP/vocational/technical training in Manufacturing processes
  • Completed a recognized apprenticeship program, and/or have a minimum of +4 years industry related experience.

 

Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical/engineering drawings and technical instructions.
  • Must be familiar with a variety of hand tools, and sheet-metal equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow direction with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, where tasks may be shared or reallocated daily.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and written.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot and problem-solve.
  • Ability to maintain professional work habits at all times.
  • Excellent planning, organization and coordination skills.
  • Excellent judgement and strong attention to detail.

 

Working Conditions

  • Regular periods during which physical effort is required, e.g., walking standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
  • Exposure to factors such as temperature variations/extremes, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, and materials which can cause periods of discomfort.
  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.
  • Noticeable direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands. 

 

Working Hours

This is a full-time (FT) position where hours will change due to business operational needs and flexibility is required.  Shifts can be of any of the following assignments:

  • Rotational shift (2 weeks on days) from 7am to 4pm and (2 weeks on afternoons) from 3pm to 12am
