Maintenance Planner

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible to assist in the planning and preparation of Maintenance work packages that support the overall strategic plan and business objectives for the Maintenance Department, ensuring organizational effectiveness through goal attainment.

A Maintenance Planner's core objective is to support other operational departments to ensure schedules and budgets are adhered to, and that problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives are undertaken in a timely manner and in accordance with all aviation regulations and AS9100 standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plan work flow for the Maintenance department according to established shop specific sequences, upfront release schedules and Critical Path Tool (CPT) dates.

  2. Ensure quick response time and delivery for any modified planning requirements due to additional work scope, engineering changes and/or miscalculated or shop and planning errors.

  3. Communicate and coordinate with the necessary departments as required including resolution of issues and process improvements concerning production planning.

  4. Create and distribute the accurate maintenance production planning documents, essential in the maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification, fabrication, assembly and/or installation of aircraft components required for the aircraft specific work scopes.

  5. Adopt, support and maintain monitoring systems to ensure the Maintenance Department is on track to the schedule and on budget to the goal hours.

  6. Work closely with the maintenance department and other operational and supporting departments.

  7. Pull work package task cards together for binding and distribution to Maintenance Department.

  8. Plan parts and organize work order in MRP system (Corridor).

  9. Participate in in-process data collection and team problem solving. Understanding of and has applied basic Continuous Improvement tools/principles 5S, Data-Driven Decision Making, 8 Wastes, and Communication Boards.

  10. Foster effective collaboration between staff in different functions by developing and sustaining operational partnerships.

  11. Develop competencies within the product lines, work centers and/or department that focus on technical skills and process improvement, developing an understanding of our overall business (cost and asset) management objectives, team communication and problem-solving techniques, and personal motivation to achieve requirements established for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in quality, schedule and cost performance.

  12. Acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to assist the Lead with their duties when necessary and in their absence.

  13. Other duties not specifically covered herein but otherwise assigned.

This position operates in compliance with all Administrative, Emergency Response, Health & Safety, Quality Assurance policies, AS9100, and procedures as outlined in Company policy and Repair Station Manual(s).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  1. High School Diploma, some college or technical schooling and/or combination of education and equivalent experience.

  2. A minimum of 1 year of experience in planning or aircraft maintenance environment.

  3. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of an MRP (Material Resources Planning) system strongly preferred; Corridor software a plus.

  4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.

  5. Experience with flight docs and other maintenance programs (i.e. CAMP)

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Technical background in aircraft maintenance.

  2. Thorough understanding of AS9100 and lean manufacturing principles.

  3. Results oriented with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.

  4. Basic math functions with whole numbers, decimals and fractions and the ability to know how and when to use them.

  5. Key competencies related to working with a diverse group of individuals and departments are desirable.

  6. Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.

  7. Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.

  8. Willing to travel domestically and internationally when required.
