GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Lead Technical Writer will be responsible for the overall Technical Publication package (Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Supplemental Maintenance Manual, Supplemental Illustrated Parts Catalog, etc). Ensuring their accuracy, cleanliness and on-time delivery will their primary focus. The Lead Technical Writer position will also be a working position, contributing to the creation of the overall customer package.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Revise and translate raw engineering data into practical operations summaries for operation manuals, instructions or any other procedural documents used by customers and mechanical service groups.
- Develop and maintain installation, configuration, how-to documentation, and other information resources for customers, their employees and service personnel.
- Complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by engineers, other technical writers or FCC personnel.
- Analyze developments in designs to determine the need for revisions in previously published materials and development of new material.
- Ensure existing technical documentation is correct, up-to-date, and applicable.
- Manage multiple assignments simultaneously, while working independently, with engineers, andor other material contributors.
- Arrange for typing, duplication, and distribution of material.
- Coordinate laying out material for publication.
- Must follow all Health, Safety and Environment policies at all times.
- Extended hours may be required from time to time.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Incumbents will have post secondary education in a related field and a minimum of six years experience in technical publications as well as an intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of desktop publishing software. In addition, incumbents will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and raw data;
- Extra consideration will be given to candidates who are familiar with writing Aerospace ICA's, SMM's, IPC's,
- Excellent project coordination abilities.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to details
- Computer skills - Desktop Publishing software (MS Word, MS In-Design or other)
- Candidates must have excellent report writing, analysis, problem resolution, and communication skills.
