Human Resources Assistant

Flying Colours Corp. is seeking a professional and highly organized individual to fill the role of Human Resources Assistant.  This position is located at our facility in Peterborough, ON, CA.

 

Job Description
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the HR Assistant provides a broad range of administrative and clerical support.  The role is critical in executing our people initiatives, providing great internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.  Specific job functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the day to day operations of the HR function and duties;
  • Assist with administration portion of new-hire process with the opportunity to develop skills for the full-cycle recruitment function;
  • Complete employment and payroll verifications;
  • Calculate and prepare metrics reports for turnover, absenteeism, and employment equity;
  • Update vacation schedules and time-off requests. Prepare annual rotational work schedules;
  • Compile and coordinate material for hourly employees for evaluations, training sessions, orientations and onboarding;
  • Update documents such as job descriptions and records for new hires in the HRIS system.
  • Organize HR records and employment files;
  • Assist with benefit administration and onboarding of new employees as needed;
  • Support other Human Resources functions and special projects as assigned.

Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast paced-environment with multiple-priorities.  Detail-oriented, maturity, high level of professionalism, and outstanding attendance record is a must for this position.

 

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in Human Resources Administration;
  • CHRP designation preferred;
  • 2 years of related human resources experience
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial labour standards and health and safety legislation;
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment and/or manufacturing setting.

 

Skills

  • Proficient in MS Office and HRIS systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills: must display patience, humor and helpfulness at all times front line contact for employee issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to solve problems.  Accuracy is important.
  • Excellent time management and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Energetic, positive and highly collaborative approach to working with others
  • Discretion, ability to deal with highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to use initiative to contribute to an environment founded on continuous improvement.
