POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director, MRO Operations is responsible for the overall aircraft inspection, maintenance, refurb, overhaul and completion services provided. This responsibility encompasses the overall management and operation of the repair station; including assurance of adequate housing space; and that facilities and equipment that are maintained in accordance with the RSQM to efficiently perform the functions for which the FAA Part 145 repair station is rated.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Within the repair station:

  1. Ensure the highest technical levels of Aircraft maintenance activities are conducted to include servicing, maintaining, conducting service bulletins and repairing airframe and engines as required to support the overall Aircraft completion process.

  2. Develop Maintenance policies and procedures to include SOPs which cover work steps not specifically outlined in maintenance manuals, service bulletins, etc.

  3. Ensure the highest technical levels of competence for interior installation in support of STC Completion programs as well as R&R operations in support of maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with the program budgets and timelines

  4. Manage the Sheet Metal, Avionics and CNC operations across all the three business revenue lines of Interior Fabrication, Aircraft Completion and Aircraft Maintenance

  5. Review tool control process and make sure it is communicated by Maintenance Supervisor to Technicians on a regular basis to reiterate the importance of collecting and accounting for all tools used during each day.

  6. Develop department specific reports such as master work schedule and manpower requirements, broken down by project or daily work plans, then communicate and hold the department accountable for achieving established production targets.

  7. Providing adequate training, equipment, materials and personnel competent to perform, supervise and inspect the work for which the repair station is rated. 

  8. Coordinate the activities of the Managers under direct authority to assure smooth execution of their areas of responsibility.

  9. Drive continuous improvement opportunities by reviewing estimated man hours vs actual hours with the department. Seek and highly encourage technicians to recommend improvement opportunities which support reduced downtime and cost while maintaining safety, quality and profitability.

  10. In the absence of a Manager, the Director, MRO Operations is responsible to assume the duties and ensure that authority has been delegated to the qualified personnel for the approval for return to service of aircraft, engines and appliances after modification, overhaul, repair or inspection. This position may delegate all duties assigned to any qualified assistance as necessary; however, such delegation does not relieve them of overall responsibilities.

  11. Prepare maintenance portion of bid to repair or inspect aircraft and submit to sales for inclusion in final bid.

  12. Review profit and loss statements for all departments to identify and resolve variances.

  13. Prepare and submit to accounting the department budget for consolidation into overall organizational budget.

  14. Participate in the development and implementation of organizational policies and procedures

  15. Research and develop new products to determine their feasibility and to allow the organization to stay ahead of the competition.

  16. Participate with executive management in development of strategic and long-range organizational plans.

  17. Work in compliance with all Administrative, Health & Safety policies and procedures as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies.

  18. Extended hours can be expected in this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  1. Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. A&P license a plus.

  2. Broad knowledge of management and business administration in an MRO environment. Master's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  3. Minimum of fifteen years of experience in a similar or related position, including aircraft maintenance and supervisory experience to obtain sufficient knowledge to fulfill the duties of this position.

  4. Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.

  5. Ability to communicate in an assertive yet professional, motivating and tactful manner.

  6. Strong understanding of man hour allocation and overall management of a Maintenance department. 

  7. Willing to travel domestically and internationally when required.

The location where this position functions is in a production environment which is subject to constant exposure to loud noise, potential contact with hazardous/non-hazardous waste material and other safety hazards such as production tools, aircraft monuments, interior components: divans, chairs, other cabinets etc.
