Due to continued growth in our businesses, we have a requirement for a Data Analyst / Programmer to join our Team at our Peterborough, Ontario location.

 

 

General Accountability

The Data Analyst / Programmer is responsible for providing day-to-day support in the development, maintenance and administration of business reports and databases working cross functionally within the organization.

 

Specific Accountabilities

  •          Assist in analysis of business needs and designing, establishing and developing reporting standards for the organization
  •          Support existing and develop new reports to assist in the review of business metrics
  •          Responsible to ensure that existing and new reports provide robust and reliable data
  •          Assist in gathering business needs from internal stakeholders, soliciting reporting requirements from end users and converting the requests a workable solution
  •          Provide support in generation of corporate, departmental and project reports
  •          Develop user requirements, guidelines and manuals for existing and new reports / systems
  •          Support training, guidance and troubleshooting for end-users of various systems
  •          Assist in examining of existing systems and business models, analyzing business requirements and recommending improvements

 

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in computer science/information technology or an equivalent combination of skills and experience
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL queries:  +3 years
  • Excellent knowledge of Oracle Databases:  +3 years strong asset
  • Excellent knowledge of VB.Net: +3 years
  • Experience using Visual Studio:  + 3 years
  • Knowledge of Crystal Reports:  +1 year preferred

 

Skills/Abilities

  • Must be proficient in MS Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Strong communication skills (oral/written) required in both business and technical terms
  • Ability to write and edit SQL queries to fetch data from Oracle database
  • Desktop, Laptop & Printer hardware knowledge
  • Knowledge of writing and understanding ASPX web pages in VB.Net
  • Sound judgment, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Analyze opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Strong time management skills
  • Team player qualities:  integrity, accountability, adaptability and motivation
  • Must be self-motivated and self-directed, with ability to balance multiple priorities under time constraints
  • Must have the ability to collaborate with all functional areas in the business

 

Working Conditions

  • Frequent or occasional periods of time are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about.  Occasionally required to stop or lift light material or equipment
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area which is air conditioned or climate controlled
  • Conditions could produce mild discomfort on occasion, e.g.: moderate background noise levels
  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention, either hearing, seeing, visualizing, drafting, to what is happening and work being performed
  • Frequent pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands exist

 

Working Hours

Weekday Hours:  Monday Friday from 8:00am 5:00pm
