POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible to lead and manage the operations team individual contributors through project execution including the ability to perform all functions within the accountable functional area. Incumbent will receive direction from department supervisor or Monument Center Operations Manager and be responsible for the delegation of upholstery processes and tool, machinery, specialized techniques required for the completion of custom aircraft interiors following the approved design, engineering and FAA requirements.

The Crew Lead's core objective is to be the focal point for the team; demonstrating a continual willingness to learn and serve as a team member, to execute operational workflow with clear direction through various forms of communication, while empowering the Operations team to meet production schedules and goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Guide and coach the performance of assigned staff in the execution of work assignments; ensure that they are completed within required budget, allotted hours, quality standards and material guidelines.

  2. Monitor any issues to ensure production targets, key performance indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are met to meet the requirements of the customer.

  3. Have a superior technical knowledge of upholstery processes, tools, machinery and specialized techniques required for the completion of custom aircraft interior structures and seating.

  4. Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards while fostering a culture of a safe work environment. Train new associates within the area of responsibility.

  5. Comply with approved design, engineering and FAA requirements. Ensure team members are aware and follow methods set forth by the Repair Station and Quality Control Manual(s).

  6. Continually evaluate, identify system improvements, and make recommendations for change that increase safety, reduce cost, cycle time and man-hours and other process improvement techniques.

  7. Ensure workflow is tracked accurately in MRO/MRP system.

  8. Participate in in-process data collection and team problem solving. Exposure to basic Continuous Improvement tools/principles 5S, Data-Driven Decision Making, Know Your Customer and Visual Management

  9. Foster positive team environment and demonstrate a continual willingness to learn and serve as a team member.

  10. Other duties not specifically covered herein but otherwise assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  1. Completed training in a vocation or technical school with focus on practical upholstery, industrial sewing, working with various fabrics, seating and leather materials, etc.

  2. A minimum of 1 to 2 years in a leadership or mentorship role. Expressly displaying ability to successfully lead a team in a production environment.

  3. A minimum of 7 years of industrial sewing and upholstery experience required, ideally working with seating and leather materials directly related to the manufacture of custom corporate jet interior monuments.

  4. Completed the Repairman Certificate training in accordance with FCC Repair Station Manual.

  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of an MRP (Material Resources Planning) system required; Corridor software a plus.

  6. Able to read engineering drawings strongly preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Extensive knowledge in the specialized functions of the position. Ability to solve complex problems ordinarily encountered in the process.

  2. Full functioning knowledge of the position with extensive comprehension of all detailed aspects.

  3. Basic mathematical knowledge is essential to make accurate measurements to complete project ensuring quality and precision.

  4. Ability to read engineering drawings.

  5. Key competencies related to working with a diverse group of individuals and departments are desirable.

  6. Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.

  7. Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.

  8. Willing to complete on the job training (OJT) in accordance with FCC Repair Station Manual.

  9. Willing to travel domestically and internationally when required.
