POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible to lead the performance of all functions in the Maintenance Shop. Incumbent will receive direction from department supervisor or Maintenance Shop Manager for the overall maintenance up to and including the delegation of the scheduled maintenance for aircraft, troubleshoot problems, make repairs, and complete inspections required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The Crew Lead's core objective is to be the focal point and leader for the team; demonstrate a continual willingness to learn and serve as a team member, and to execute operational workflow with clear direction through various forms of communication, while empowering you and your team to meet production schedules and goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Perform duties required to inspect, service, repair and maintain aircraft and mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and related systems and components to ensure airworthiness.

  2. Inspect and perform scheduled, unscheduled and preventative maintenance.

  3. Read and interpret various technical data, FAR's, SB's, AD's and maintenance authorizations to determine feasibility and method of maintenance action in a timely manner.

  4. Test run engines and check systems for operation and leaks.

  5. Ability to work from detailed assembly blueprints, technical drawings and/or manuals.

  6. Confer with customer and project coordinator to ensure all expectations are met.

  7. Complete records of work done to sustain an accurate record system.

  8. Able to work in confined spaces and elevated heights when required.

  9. Develop, coach and evaluate the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards while fostering a culture of a safe work environment. Train new associates within the area of responsibility.

  10. Comply with approved design, engineering and FAA requirements. Ensure team members are aware of and follow methods set forth by the Repair Station and Quality Control Manual(s).

  11. Continually evaluate, identify system improvements, and make recommendations for change that increase safety, reduce cost, cycle time and man-hours and other process improvement techniques.

  12. Ensuring workflow is tracked with consistent accuracy in the MRO/MRP system.

  13. Participate in in-process data collection and team problem solving. Exposure to basic Continuous Improvement tools/principles 5S, Data-Driven Decision Making, Know Your Customer and Communication Boards.

  14. Foster positive team environment and demonstrate a continual willingness to learn and serve as a team member.

  15. Must perform work in accordance with all FAA guidelines. Follow methods set forth by the company's Repair Station and Quality Control Manual(s).

  16. A wide and comprehensive familiarity with, and understanding of, both general and specific aspects of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered.

  17. Use of strong mathematical knowledge to accurately measure complete project ensuring quality and precision.

  18. Foster a positive team environment and demonstrate a continual willingness to learn while serving as a team member.

  19. Collaborate with department Crew Lead(s) to troubleshoot engineering design discrepancies within the prints. Following and working from approved engineering drawings as well as other written instructions and design specifications.

  20. Participate in in-process data collection and team problem solving. Exposure to basic Continuous Improvement tools/principles 5S, Data-Driven Decision Making, Know Your Customer and Communication Boards.

  21. Other duties not specifically covered herein but otherwise assigned.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE / HEALTH AND SAFETY:

This position operates in compliance with all Administrative, Emergency Response, Health & Safety, Quality Assurance policies, AS9100, and procedures as outlined in Company policy and Repair Station Manual(s).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  1. Completed training in a vocation or technical school. Airframe and Power Plant certificate required.

  2. A minimum of 1 to 2 years in a leadership or mentorship role. Expressly displaying ability to successfully lead a team in a production environment.

  3. Minimum of 7 year's basic aircraft maintenance experience within the aerospace / aviation industry. Moderate understanding of general job aspects a plus.

  4. Completed the Repairman Certificate training in accordance with FCC Repair Station Manual.

  5. Must have successfully and proficiently completed a variety of work-related tasks achieving high quality standards.

  6. Excellent planning, organization, coordination skills, sound judgment, and strong attention to detail will be a plus.

  1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Extensive knowledge in the specialized functions of the position. Ability to solve complex problems ordinarily encountered in the process.

  2. Basic math functions with whole numbers, decimals and fractions and the ability to know how and when to use them.

  3. Key competencies related to working with a diverse group of individuals and departments are desirable.

  4. Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.

  5. Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.

  6. Willing to complete on the job training (OJT) in accordance with FCC Repair Station Manual.

  7. Willing to travel domestically and internationally when required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment described here is representative of those required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.

The location where this position functions is in an aircraft hangar environment which is subject to constant exposure to loud noise, potential contact with hazardous/non-hazardous waste material and other safety hazards such as production tools, aircraft monuments, interior components: divans, chairs, other cabinets etc.
