GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

To safely, and efficiently produce machined parts by means of programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Planning machines by carefully studying work orders, drawings and other technical data.
• Planning the stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
• Programs CNC by entering the instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
• Feed mechanism to be loaded by lifting stock into position.
• Verifying the settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to standards.
• Specifications should be maintained by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Adhering to safety procedures and regulations by maintaining safe operations.
• Completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs to maintain the equipment properly to avoid unwanted and alarming situations.
• Continuity to be maintained among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Actions to be documented by completing production and quality logs.
• Proactive Participation in educational opportunities; reading technical publications to update job knowledge on ongoing basis to stay updated.
• Accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment to accomplish organizational goals.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Computer Aided Design with an emphasis in Model Based Definition Drawings.   Familiarity with  with AutoCAD, CATIA, Solidworks, and/or Mastercam.  Applicants with aerospace / aviation experience are preferred.  Must have completed training and programming on CNC machine.     Two to four year degree in Engineering or related field of study.
