Flying Colours is a factory authorized Bombardier service center.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
The Apprentice Structural Engineer has generally low responsibility as it applies generating new designs. They shall gather existing data, which can involve mocking up existing 2D CAD or 3D models developed by other engineers for lead review or developing General Arrangement drawings. Other general responsibilities may include converting data and/or extracting data for use by production or procurement.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Apprentice Engineer shall:
- Convert 3D Models to STEP files for procurement to send to vendors as required.
- Perform BOM extractions from 3D models for procurement to order parts from a concise list.
- Create General Arrangements, Layouts, and Customer Drawings.
- Create other low risk drawings as required by the lead engineer.
- Incorporate complete RFE's (Requests For Engineering) into engineering drawings.
- Must follow all Health, Safety and Environment policies at all times.
- Other specific duties assigned by supervisor or management.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Frequent or occasional periods of time are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally required to stop or lift light material or equipment.
- Located in a comfortable indoor area which is air conditioned or climate controlled. Conditions could produce mild discomfort on occasion, e.g.: moderate background noise
- Occasional to frequent need to give concentrated attention, either hearing, seeing, visualizing, drafting, to what is happening and work being performed.
- Pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Apprentices are to be enrolled in college to obtain a degree in engineering or drafting with preference given to candidates with a degree in Structural, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering. Extra consideration will be given to candidates with the following experience:
- Excellent communication and computer skills
- 2D drafting and 3D modeling experience needed (CATIA or Solidworks & AutoCAD preferred)
Note: This is considered a part-time to full-time position. Flexibility with school schedules will be given by FCC as long as supervisory personnel are present during the proposed working times.
