GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Perform scheduled maintenance for aircraft, troubleshoot problems, make repairs, and complete inspections required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).   Supervise and inspect work performed of Maintenance Technicians.
 
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Schedule department workload and ensure timely completion.  Set workload priorities
  • Perform duties required to inspect, service, repair and maintain aircraft and mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and related systems and components to ensure airworthiness
  • Lead projects, train, mentor and manage personnel Inspect and perform scheduled, unscheduled and preventative maintenance
  • Read and interpret various technical data, FAR's, SB's, AD's and maintenance authorizations to determine feasibility and method of maintenance action in a timely manner
  • Train new personnel on proper procedures 
  • Mentor personnel on proper procedures
  • Manage projects and a small team of technicians to complete desired tasks
  • Assist management with purchase and availability of maintenance and job bids
  • Confer with customer and project coordinator to ensure all expectations are met
  • Create log entries and ensure appropriate documentation is given to customer prior to release

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular periods during which physical effort is required, e.g., walking standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
  • Exposure to factors such as temperature variations/extremes, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, and materials which can cause periods of discomfort.
  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.
  • Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.

 
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

Minimum of 7 years of aircraft experience preferred.  High School Diploma/GED preferred.  Successful completion of internal Inspector Class.   Airframe and Powerplant license.
 
SKILLS/COMPENTENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic knowledge of elementary algebra
  • Understand engineer drawings
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments and testing equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external customers in both written and oral form
  • Manage personnel to achieve desired results
  • Teach and present new ideas and methods to junior personnel
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills
  • Apply principles to solve practical problems where little standardization exists
  • Demonstrated computer skills
