GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

The accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of adequate systems of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Complete and analyze financial statements such as profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, and supporting documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate financial results and variances from budget to senior management on a timely basis.
  • Analyze monthly reports from Corridor, an aviation specific software, to determine correct job cost entries to be booked into the financial reporting system.
  • Produce management cost reports by job.
  • Create and distribute a comprehensive 13-week cash flow forecast on a weekly basis.
  • Calculate and issue financial and operational metrics.
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and monthly income statement forecasts.
  • Forecast and manage cash flow for incoming funds and outgoing funds such as payroll and accounts payable demands.
  • Manage organizational insurance program, excluding health, to include renewals, claims processing, securing certificates of insurance form customers and outside vendors; maintain files to insure organization is properly protected and insured.
  • Monitor major maintenance jobs to ensure positive cash flow and accrual amounts on work-in-process, informing appropriate managers of discrepancies.
  • Maintain owner aircraft lease records, to include determining monthly lease amounts due owners and Maintenance Service Program (MSP) amounts due to certified repair station holding MSP contract.
  • Monitor and maintain internal accounting policies and internal controls to reduce inventory losses and negative impact of year-end physical inventory.
  • Supervise Accounting Department, to include training, analyzing and resolving work problems or assisting in solving work problems; approve personnel actions such as hiring, rate increases, promotions, and disciplinary measures.
  • Perform profitability analyses pertaining to customers' income contributions division-wide.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year's tax reports, to include sales tax, use tax, franchise tax, federal excise tax, road tax, etc.
  • Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Coordinate with Systems Manager to discuss requirements and improvements of software utilized by Accounting Department to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Prepare support documents required by debt agreements with banks to maintain a positive relationship with lenders.
  • Coordinate and prepare for annual audit of financial systems and statements, including year-end financial audit.

 WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular periods during which physical effort requires walking, sitting, talking, hearing.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less with the ability to bring objects into sharp focus.
  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.
  • Occasional direct and indirect pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
  • Occasional need to lift or move items of 1 to 10 lbs. 

 EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The Controller must have their CPA designation and be in good standing.  Minimum of seven years' experience in a similar or related position with at least one-year supervisory experience in order to fulfill the requirements of this position.

SKILLS/COMPENTENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Apply principles of logical thinking to define problem, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to effectively work and interact with others.
  • Confident in using Microsoft Office products and accounting software programs Microsoft GP and Sage 300.
