The Director of Quality Assurance reports to the Accountable Manager and is responsible for the operation of the Inspection Department and is directly in Charge of the repair station. The Director of Quality Assurance's duties are:


  • Oversee the duties of the Chief Inspector.
  • Oversee the execution of inspection records, reports and forms used by the Repair Station and that these forms are properly executed prior to return to service.
  • Ensure the filing system of completed work orders is adequate.
  • Ensure technical data is kept current and revised.
  • Oversee tagging procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure reports on any defects for other Unairworthy condition are properly reported.
  • Oversee final acceptance/rejection of incoming parts system.
  • Ensure continuity of inspection is accomplished.
  • Ensure manual control, distribution and currency is maintained by the Repair Station.
  • Ensure that the central file of completed work orders are maintained in such a manner that a file pertaining to a specific item repaired and/or installed on an aircraft can be readily located.
  • Responsible for the assignment of Authorization Codes for qualified technicians.
  • Ensure that employee roster and training is adequate and current.
  • In the absence of the Chief Inspector, the Director of Quality Assurance is responsible to assume the duties and ensure that authority has been delegated to the qualified personnel for the approval for return to service of aircraft, engines, and appliances after modifications, overhaul, repair or inspection.
  • May delegate all duties assigned to any qualified assistance as necessary; however, such delegation does not relieve him of his overall responsibilities.
  • Maintain control and distribution of a contract maintenance listing and function.
  • Ensure that adequate numbers of personnel are available to accomplish the types of work authorized under the Repair Station certificate. These personnel must have detailed knowledge of the particular maintenance function or technique they are involved in, base don formal training or extensive experience.
  • Ensure adequate safety precautions are observed by repair station personnel.
  • Directing, planning and laying out the details of inspection standards , methods, and procedures used by the Repair Station in complying with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer's specifications or recommendations.
  • The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for ensuring that this electronic version of the manual is  kept current and accurate.
  • Ensure that the Repair Station is authorized to perform maintenance per the Operations Specifications ratings and have the final authority to approve for return to service an article for which a rating is held.
  • Responsible for the Calibration Control Program .
  • The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for continuously evaluating the training program to ensure it meets all of this repair station's needs and the applicable FARs.
  • Ensure the Chief Inspector submits reports on any serious defects on aircraft, powerplant, component or other recurring Unairworthy condition. Internet Service Difficulty Report (ISDR) FAA Form 8070-1, will be utilized to document occurrences and serious defects on aircraft, powerplants, components or any other recurrent unairworthy condition.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Valid A&P license
  • Strong knowledge of FAR 145 and EASA regulations
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a licensed A&P within corporate aviation
  • Extensive Experience in Quality Assurance and MRO activities.


  • Ability to lead multiple direct reports

  • Ability to drive internal audits and AS9100C audits

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Organized, autonomous and very motivated.
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Internet)
  • Excellent planning, organization and coordination skills.
  • Excellent judgment, strong attention to detail.
