Quality Control Inspector

Flying Colours Corp. is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector for their Maintenance department. This position is located in Peterborough, ON, CA.


Job Description

The QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all aircraft technical data is reviewed, recorded, maintained and logged correctly in accordance with Transport Canada regulations, other regulatory agency regulations as applicable (FAA, EASA, CAAC etc), AS9100, and Flying Colours Corp. requirements. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Collection and audit of log books, technical records and work packages. Audit the documents to ensure accurate data entry, compliance with all time-limited maintenance requirements, airworthiness directives and service bulletins and regulatory requirements as applicable to the specific project, aircraft purchase or sale, importation and exportation etc. as required.
  • Perform duties responsible for compliance with all procedures provided by the repair station inspection system, AS9100, as appropriate to any article being inspected, overhauled, repaired or altered by the repair station.
  • Ensure the inspection records, reports and forms used by the repair station are properly executed prior to releasing products
  • Inspect completed major repairs and/or alterations to ensure compliance with engineered drawings.
  • Perform conformity inspections on aircraft, engines and appliances
  • Perform weight and balance and update equipment list.
  • Perform company audits per Flying Colours Corp quality auditing system to ensure conformance with company processes
  • Instruct other personnel as required
  • Interacts with supervisors and technicians for updates/changes to customer work-scope, and assist Leads and supervisors in coordinating distribution of required documentation.
  • Research maintenance services i.e. Service Bulletins compliance, Aircraft modifications, and STC's
  • Reviews Work Order prior to releasing the aircraft.
  • Ensure that all inspections and maintenance are properly performed in accordance with the appropriate technical data and this Repair Station Manual.
  • Ensure that articles undergoing repair or overhaul by the repair station are properly identified, and that current data is being used.
  • Ensure the repair station is operating within the Transport Canada Regulations, and the repair station manual.
  • Additional duties, as required
  • Perform other duties as delegated by the Director of Maintenance.
  • Develop work package based on the audit findings.


  • Graduate from a recognized college in Aircraft Maintenance
  • Hold a valid Transport Canada approved Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience as an aircraft mechanic. A minimum of 10 years of experience is preferred.
  • Must possess a proven ability to work and communicate with all levels of management in a professional manner
  • Must be willing to work overtime hours as needed
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of computers and programs, including: Corridor, Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Reviewing and maintaining technical records under critical deadlines;
  • Ability to recognize process or equipment deviation from expected performance or output;
  • Ability to fully understand the AMO's maintenance program;
  • Ability to understand and use proper records procedures as required.


  • Take initiative and work independently while managing time and priorities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams and schematics and calculate algebraic equations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written and oral form.
  • Ability to instruct others.
