Aircraft Maintenance Planner

Due to continued growth, Flying Colours Corp. is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Planner.  This position is located in Peterborough, ON, CA.

 

Job Description

The Aircraft Maintenance Planner will assist the Director of Maintenance in the planning and preparation of production schedules that support the overall strategic plan and business objectives for the Maintenance Department, ensuring organizational effectiveness through goal attainment. 

This role also supports other operational departments to ensure schedules and budgets are adhered to, and that problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives are undertaken in a timely manner and in accordance with all aviation regulations and AS9100 standards.

 

Duties:

The focus of this role is the optimization and accurate reporting of the following key Operational Objectives:

  • Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance
  • Quality of service & finished product
  • Cost Reduction
  • Productivity / Efficiency (Productivity & Utilization per Employee)
  • On-Time Deliveries: Timely Production Output in accordance with Customer Order Book and business plans, and ensuring ultimate delivery to Customers
  • Risk Management (Coordination & scheduling of Human Capital & aircraft)
  • Leadership / Team Motivation

The Aircraft Maintenance Planner will establish and set weekly and monthly targets as appropriate to report and demonstrate measurable progress in all of these areas.

 

Other accountabilities include:

  • Work directly with the DOM and Maintenance teams to formulate Goal hour quotes and budgets.
  • Works with DOM to plan work flow for the Maintenance department according to established shop specific sequences, upfront release schedules and Critical Path Tool (CPT) dates.
  • Ensure quick response time and delivery for any modified planning requirements due to additional workscope, engineering changes and/or miscalculated or shop and planning errors.
  • Communication and coordination with the necessary departments as required including resolution of issues and process improvements concerning production planning.
  • Create and distribute the accurate maintenance production planning documents, essential in the maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification, fabrication, assembly and/or installation of aircraft components required for the aircraft specific workscopes.
  • Adopt, support and maintain monitoring systems to ensure the Maintenance Department is on track to the schedule and on budget to the goal hours.
  • Provides the required performance metric updates via current and future reporting tools (KPI Boards, Intranet, etc.).
  • Participates in in-process data collection and team problem solving. Understands and has applied basic Continuous Improvement tools/principles 5S, Data-Driven Decision Making, 8 Wastes, and Communication Boards.
  • Work closely between maintenance and other departments.
  • Foster effective collaboration between staff in different functions by developing and sustaining operational partnerships
  • Able to work with others, particularly from other departments, to problem solve and achieve common goals in a participative manner
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong technical background in aircraft maintenance.
  • Thorough understanding of AS9100 and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Completion of College/CEGEP/vocational or technical training in Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality Engineering.
  • Experience in either a manufacturing or quality system environment, as well as strong root cause analysis abilities and demonstrated usage of problem-solving tools.
  • Must have a positive attitude and be able to handle changes and make sound decisions.
  • Able to communicate and interact in a positive, professional manner.
  • Able to work on multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to lead a team and champion a project.
  • Intermediate PC skills in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Project, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint

  • Strong sense of responsibility, flexibility, ability to work under pressure, extraordinary diligence, solution-oriented way of working.
  • Ability to work autonomously and provide progress reports.
